Begin your visit in Redwood Falls by visiting the largest municipal park in the state.  Located along the Minnesota River Valley this majestic park offers 217 acres of hiking trails, 2 waterfalls, zoo, a DNR trout stream and much more.  Lunch may be catered here while you enjoy the beautiful park and stretch you legs   (Time: 1 hour)

This historic farm site preserves the history of agriculture and farming in our area.  Tour the beautiful large home, antique machinery barn, summer kitchen, or take a stroll through the flower gardens  (Time: 1 1/2 hours)

A fun stop to get "hands on" experience with a friendly new form of livestock who love all the attention they can get (Time: 30 Minutes)

Redwood Falls has many unique gift stores.  Also a quilt shop named as one of the top ten quilt shops in the states by Better Homes and Gardens.

Day 2
Morning

Learn about the Dakota Uprising of 1862 and the Native American History.  1861 warehouse, book store nature trails and more (Time: 1 hour)

Formerly a poor farm it contains over 30 rooms each displaying a variety of exhibits from the past.  Also includes the Minnesota Inventor's Hall of Fame (Time: 1 1/2 hours)

Afternoon

Have lunch at one of Redwood Falls fine restaurants.

Two sod houses built like the early settlers used on the treeless prairie.   Take pictures of the beautiful prairie grass and wildflowers (Time: 1 hour)

In Walnut Grove you will relive the history of the Ingalls during their stay in the area.  See Laura's quilt, early Walnut Grove artifacts, TV series memorabilia, and the Kelton doll collection, all housed in a complex of five buildings.  More Walnut Grove information can be obtained via the Internet at this address http://www.walnutgrove.org (Time: 1 hour)

Book fans enjoy this undisturbed site.  Interpretive signs help visitors locate prominent features Laura described in "On the Banks of Plum Creek" (Time: 1/2 Hour)

Enjoy a pre-pageant supper hosted by the local churches and organizations in the Walnut Grove Community Center.

Located along Plum Creek listen to the pageant singers entertain you until the covered wagon with the Ingalls family arrives to begin the opening act.  The sun is setting, the lights go up, and so begins the magic on the hillside.  "Fragments of a Dream.  Laura's life story in Walnut Grove over 100 years ago (Time: 3 hours)
